Welcome to the Athletic Department's homepage.

It is the intent of the Athletic Department to provide the students of the high school with a comprehensive, well-planned and balanced program of interscholastic athletics.

Hunterdon Central's Athletic Department is headed by Athletic Director, Robert P. Rossi. There are two two athletic trainers, one strength room coach and one department secretary, serving a student body of 3,100. The department has 97 coaching positions: 33 head coaches and 70 sub-varsity positions.

On two levels (varsity, sub-varsity) in Gymnastics (G), Tennis (B/G), Volleyball (B), Ice Hockey and Wrestling, and on the varsity level only in Swimming (B/G) and Golf (B/G).

    BulletBoys Bowling Takes Skyland Conference Invitational Championship. Hunterdon Central Boys Bowling, under the direction of Coach Eric Wasserman, won the Skyland Conference Boys Bowling Invitational Tournament. The following boys comprised the winning three-man team: Freshman Chris Koval 255 200 226 --- 681 Sophomore Trey Feldman 195--236--204--635 Senior captain Steve Chieffo 225--254--201--680 675--690--631---1996 total pins

    BulletCompetition V/JV Cheerleaders Win 6th Straight Invitiational Championship. Hunterdon Central Varsity and JV Competition Squads captured the Phillipsburg Cheerleading Invitational Grand Champion Title. It was the Varsity Squads 6th straight Invitational Championship for the season. Both Squads will be competing at the UCA Nationals in two weeks in Orlando, Florida.

    BulletCentrals' Quinn Carney Inducted into the NJ Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Hunterdon Central's Quinn Carney (1997) was inducted into the NJ Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Quinn was a high school and college (Maryland) All-American lacrosse player. She lead HC to the finals in girls lacrosse in 1997. She went on to win 4 National Championships at Maryland and, in 2001, won the gold medal for the US at the Women's World Championship. She currently is an assistant coach at Maryland.

    BulletGirls Winter Track Finished 3rd at Conference Championships. Hunterdon Central Girls Winter Track team finished 3rd to champion Montgomery.     BulletBoys Winter Track Finish 4th Over-All at Conference Championships. Hunterdon Central Boys Winter Track team finished 4th over-all to champion Franklin. Results: 55m Dash Dan Battaglia 5th 6.8; 400m Battaglia 2nd 52.0; 800m Robert Sansevere 3rd 2:04.2; Shot-Put Patrick Kessel 4th 45-3 1/2; Pole Vault Tim Shanahan Champion 13'; 4x400 Relay Steve Kaplan, Robert Sansevere, Michael Mellinger, Dan Battaglia Champions 3:37.2

    BulletHC Boys Swimmers Take 1st in Hunterdon/Waren/Sussex Championship. Hunterdon Central Boys Swimmers scored 472 points to out distance runner-up Pope John 136.5 to take the first Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Swimming Championships, held at Sussex Vo-Tech pool.     BulletHC Girls Swimmers Take 1st in Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Swim Championships. Hunterdon Central Girls Swimmers took home the championship trophy in the first Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Swimming Championships held at Sussex Vo-Tech pool. The Girls finished with 263 points to Pope John's 249 with the championship outcome coming down to the final race. 200m Relay Medley Champions Kim Hwang, Silke Herold, Kara Millaci, Rebecca Indeck)2:12.77; 200m Individual Medley Silke Herold 1st 2:31.16, Tess Butt 5th 2:45.87; 50m Free Rebecca Indeck 2nd 29.34, Sydney Soja 6th 29.88; 100m Butterfly Kara Millaci 2nd 1;12.42; 100m Free Cat Sukovich 6th 1;07.88

    BulletCentral Girls Fencing Results NJSIAA Districts. Hunterdon Centrals' Girls Fencing team finished 3rd over-all at the NJSIAA District Tournament. Epee finished 3rd with 20 to Montgomery 21, Heather Wehrle 6th. Foil finished 3rd with 18 to Montgomery 25, Tracy Napoli 3rd. Sabre finished 9th with 7 to Pingry with 21. Tracy Napoli qualified for individual states. The Foil team qualified for Squad States.

    BulletCentral Boys Fencing Results at NJSIAA Districts. Hunterdon Central Boys Fencing team finished 3rd over-all to Champion Montgomery. Epee finished 3rd to Montgomery(21) with 20 points, Dan Robitzski 8th. Foil finished 3rd with 18 to Montogmery (25), Joe D'Astoli 3rd, Nick Vanucci 5th, Karsten Kierk 8th. Sabre finished 9th with 7 to Pingry (21). Individuals to state Joe D'Astoli and Nick Vanucci. Foil qualified for Squad states. The team qualified for the round of 16.

    BulletCentral Takes Second at the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Wrestling Championships. Hunterdon Central (168.5) finished second over-all to High Point (199)at the first Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Wrestling Championships. Results: 119 Alex Shaffer 1st and named Tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler, 130 Brian Bistis, 160 Jerry Somma, Brad Bormann 2nd at HWT.

    BulletCentral Boys and Girls Bowling Win Skyland Tournament. Hunterdon Central's Boys and Girls Bowling Teams won the 6th Annual Skyland Bowling Invitational on January 27,2010.

    BulletTrenton Times All-Decade Wrestling Team. The Trenton Times announced their All-Decade Wrestling Athletes. There were several Hunterdon Central Wrestlers mentioned:

    BulletBaseball Pre-Season Meetings. There will be a Pre-Season Baseball Player Meeting in the Little Theater on February 2nd, at 2:15 PM, for all grade levels.

    There will be a Pre-Season Baseball Parent Meeting in the Little Theater on March 3rd at 6:3 PM. It is encouraged that at least one parent attends this meeting.

    BulletGirls Bowling Wins First Skyland Conference Championship. Hunterdon Central's Girls' Bowling Team, coached by Coach Driscoll, won their first Skyland Conference Championship.     BulletBoys Volleyball Pre-Season Meeting. There will be a mandatory meeting for all boys volleyball candidates for all grade levels in the Wooden Gym on Tuesday, February 2nd, at 2:15 PM.

    BulletSoftball Pre-Season Meeting. There will be a mandatory meeting for all softball candidates for all grade levels in the Field House on on Tuesday, February 2nd, at 2:15 PM.

    BulletVarsity and JV Competition Cheerleaders Take Warren HIlls Championship. Hunterdon Central's Varsity and JV Competition squads capturer both championships at the Warren Hills Winter Cheer Challenge.

    BulletBoys Winter Track Takes Long Jump Championship. Hunterdon Centrals' Steve Kaplan and Dan Battaglia teamed up to take the championship in the Long Jump competition at the New Balance Games, held at the New York Armory. Kaplan/Battaglia (20'4"/20'91/2") team up for the winning total of 41'11/2".

    BulletGirls Winter Track 4x800m Relay Team Sets County Record. Hunterdon Central's Girls Winter Track 4x800m Relay Team, competing at the New Balance Games at the New York Armory, set a Hunterdon County Record in 9:15.16. That time is #8 all time in State history.

    BulletBoys Golf Pre-Season Meeting. There will be a Pre-Season Boys Golf Meeting on January 26th, at 2:20PM, in the Field House Lobby, for all grade levels.

    BulletHC's Kristen Harabedian Highlighted in Sports Illustraed. Hunterdon Central's Kristen Harabedian, All-State Gymnast, was highlighted in last week's high school sports section of Sports Illustrated. Kristen took three of the four 1st place medals available in the recent NJSIAA Gymnastic Championship.

    BulletGirls Winter Track Relay Results. Hunterdon Central Winter Track Relay Results: 3200 meter relay 9:46.25, 4th. Distance Medley 12:23.59, 4th.

    BulletBoys Winter Track Relays Results. Hunterdon Central Boys Winter Track Results: 3,200 meter relay in 8:24.6, 5th. Shot Put 89.5 ft., 4th.

    BulletBaseball Pre-Season Meeting. Baseball will have a Pre-Season Meeting in the Little Theater on February 2nd, at 2:15 PM, for all grade levels.

    BulletGirls Lacrosse Pre-Season Meeting. Girls Lacrosse will hold a Pre-Season Meeting on February 2nd during 5th Block, in the Field House. The meeting is for all grade levels.

    BulletGirls Basketball Defeats West Windsor South. Hunterdon Central defeated West Windsor South Girls Basketball by the score of 52-32. Taylor Bruzzio scored 17 points, Casey Nickel added 11 points, Candice Hamilton 8 points.

    BulletCentral Defeats Lawrence. Huntedon Central Defeated Lawrence in Boys Basketball by the score of 45-41. Drew O'Donoghue and Bryan Noonan scored 13 points apiece.

    BulletCentral Wrestling Defeats Phillipsburg. Hunterdon Central Wrestlers defeated Phillipsburg by the score of 39-13. Central is ranked number 4 in the State, 9-1 over-all. Matt Boylan's pin at 112 pounds followed by Alex Shaffer pin at 119 sealed the victory for Central. It was Central's first win over Phillipsbury since 2003 and first on their home turf. Other wins: Cody Lewis at 171, Jake Maffucci at 189, Shane Fenton at 215, Brad Bormann at HWT, Spencer Parcel at 130, Brian Bistis at 135, Chris Carey at 145, Jerry Somma 160.

    BulletBrian Bistis Wins "100" Wrestling Match. Hunterdon Central Wrestler Senior Brian Bistis won his 100th wrestling victory for his career at the HCWIT Wrestling Tournament over the holiday.

    Hunterdon Central will no longer wrestle Lenape Valley at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 16th - that has been canceled.

    Hunterdon Central will wrestle Phillipsburg at 1:00 PM, in the Fieldhouse.
