  • Social Issues The Multnomah County Public Library's great links to pro and con positions on many controversial issues. This page is part of the library's Homework Center.
  • Public Agenda Online "The nonprofit research and educational materials organization, Public Agenda, boasts unbiased explorations into public opinion and policy issues. Hot topics from the 1960s to the present are examined in detail.  Very helpful in explaining complex political issues.
  • The National Center for Policy Analysis:Daily Policy Digest News and background on topics in national and international news.

  • Politics1.com: Directory of Political Debates and Issues Links to websites by political viewpoint: left, right, libertarian and radical. It also links to sites on key issues such as abortion, affirmative action and many others.

  • Rumor Has It Snopes.com is the place to go to verify the latest urban legend you hear.  Lots of surprises and good information.

  • You think! but do you know? This site,  created by the World Bank, links to information on controversial topics such as development, poverty, AIDS, etc. The page covers the topics and then makes suggestions about what should be done by the international community and individual citizens to make the situation better.
