To begin your research for the Model UN project, check the books on the book truck that have been selected by the librarians. These books are especially helpful:

Countries and Their Cultures (306 COU)
Encyclopedia of World Geography (910.3 ENC)
Lands and Peoples -- a six-volume encyclopedia with information about countries of the world (910.3 LAN)
The World Book Encyclopedia of People and Places (910.3 WOR)
Worldmark Encyclopedia of Cultures and Daily Life (305.8 WOR)
Worldmark Encyclopedia of the Nations (903 WOR)

The Permanent Missions to the United Nations maintained by your country's government is an excellent place to find information and government documents published by your country's government, and to find your country's contact person in New York City and his/her address and telephone number. In addition to Member Nations, this page includes links to Non-member states, Observer missions, and Entities/ IGOs participating as observers in the sessions and the work of the General Assembly. From this page you will find links to the homepages of the member nations which will give you information on the country, its government and its people.

The IMC subscribes to electronic databases such as EBSCOhost, ProQuest, FACTS.com and SIRS which contain current periodical articles on individual countries and debate topics. World Geography, an electronic geographical encyclopedia, has information on the government, culture, important people and the current situation in these countries. These resources are accessed under Electronic Resources on the IMC page (or through the Off-Campus Access link).
