Teacher Tablet PC Program
Hunterdon Central's Tablet PC Program is an excellent example of teachers using technology to reinvent teaching and learning. Developed by teachers for teachers through a shared decision making process, the program provides the tools and professional development that teachers need to effectively incorporate technology into their teaching. To learn more about the program, please read Hunterdon Central's tablet pilot research study or contact the Information Systems department at infosystems@hcrhs.k12.nj.us.

Student One-to-One Computing
Hunterdon Central kicked off its Student One-to-One Computing pilot with 17 of our teachers and 250 of our students during the spring of 2009. The purpose of the program is to redesign instruction to make it more student centered, with the goal of promoting greater student engagement and higher order skill development.

Model Classroom
Each of Hunterdon Central's classrooms is equipped with a networked projector, as well as a multimedia system. This 'model classroom' allows teachers to conduct lessons wirelessly from their tablets, integrate video and sound, and use a variety of other tools that enhance teaching and learning. If you are interested in visiting Hunterdon Central and observing the model classroom, please feel free to contact the Information Systems department at infosystems@hcrhs.k12.nj.us.

ESL Literature Circle Wins Best Practice Award for Use of Weblogs
The New Jersey State Department has selected Hunterdon Central Regional High School as the recipient of a 2005-2006 Best Practice Award, for "Books Breaking Barriers: The ESL Literature Circle". The English as a Second Language (ESL) Literature Circle was created to provide opportunities for skill and social development for non-native speaking students. Through the weekly literature circle, students visit the Instructional Media Center (Library) to select reading materials that include books, books on tape and magazines. Working with their ESL teacher and the Library Media Specialist (LMS), students set reading goals. Over the course of the week, students work toward their reading goals and complete a written summary, published in a Weblog. This is followed by a classroom visit from the LMS, during which students participate in a discussion of not only their own reading, but other students' reading, as well. The Literature Circle provides practice in reading, writing, listening, speaking and computer skills.
